It is a delight for me to address this note of welcome to the very first batch of students to be admitted to the Maranatha University, Mgbidi. What a joy to witness the birth into the council of universities, this faith-based, God-directed institution, which is set to battle the darkness we have often experienced in the country’s tertiary education sector. With the take-off of Maranatha University, we can boldly say, “THE LIGHT HAS COME!”. So for you, our pioneer students, the prime beneficiaries of the light the university represents and presents, I say ARISE AND SHINE.
I wish to assure you, dear pioneer students, that you are in the right place and should grab with both hands the privilege, which your admission here constitutes. Beyond the first-rate physical facilities on offer here, a team of academic and administrative staff, of the highest moral and academic calibre, has been assembled to deliver and impart knowledge, values and skills that would stand our students in good stead upon graduation. These staff, every one of them, has sworn to always act, towards the students, IN LOCO PARENTIS, that is, as their parents in this location. You, our students, may wish to know, that we the staff, are determined under God, to ensure:
I appreciate the fact that what we have said above may appear like a tall order, but we know that God has made promises to us about His grace which is sufficient for us here at Maranatha. Arise, therefore, you, our pioneer students, and embrace THE LIGHT THAT HAS COME.
You are welcome and may God guide your every step in all your years at Maranatha. Glory to God!
